Kosana Jovanović graduated at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Rijeka with the dual graduate study of history and philosophy. After graduating, she enrolled in postgraduate studies in medieval studies at the Central European University (CEU) in Budapest. She also received a diploma from the specialist study religious studies at the same university. In 2017, at the postgraduate doctoral study of medieval studies at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb, she defended her doctoral dissertation with summa cum laude, entitled “Elaine of Astolate and the Medieval Theme of Dignified Death from Unrequited Love”, mentored by prof. dr. sc. Nenad Ivic.

From 2009 to 2017 she was employed as an assistant at the Department of History at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Rijeka, and from 2018 as an assistant professor. She has been hired as an associate in several courses at the Department of History, as well as an external associate at the Faculty of Teacher Education, University of Rijeka at the Integrated Undergraduate and Graduate Teacher Training study programs.

She is the author of one book and co-editor of several collections of papers and booklet of abstracts. She has published several scientific papers and reviews, as well as presented at domestic and international scientific conferences and participated in the organizing committee of several scientific conferences with international participation. Since 2012, she has been participating in the work of the editorial board of the Journal of the History of Western Croatia as the editorial secretary, a member of the international editorial board and the editor of the review section.

She is the project leader of the Ceremonies and Ceremonial Communication project funded by University of Rijeka with initial grants and is a collaborator on one international and one domestic scientific research project. Areas of her research interests include general history of the Middle Ages and especially ceremonies and rituals related to power, everyday life in the Middle Ages and chivalric culture.
